This site is for the purpose of encouraging the keeping of rare and endangered pig breeds, to promote a high level of stockmanship and to keep pigs in a suitable, natural environment.


British Rare Breed Pig Categories
  • Critical (less than 100) - N/A
  • Endangered (200) - British Lop; Tamworth
  • Vulnerable (300) - Berkshire; Large Black; Middle White; Welsh
  • At Risk (500) - British Saddleback
  • Traditional (1000) - Gloucestershire Old Spots


The pig: The most valuable tool for the smallholder, able to prepare the soil for planting and to convert surplus and waste food into lean meat.
